ABOUT US
The people behind the work
We're a tight crew, not a big company pretending to be one.
FIVE TO SIX PEOPLE / DEPENDING ON WHAT’S RUNNING

THE WAY WE WORK
We’re a small team — five to six of us depending on what’s running, and I like it that way. When I hire, I’m not just looking at a resume. I want someone with the right attitude, someone who does quality work without being chased, and someone who’ll pitch in when the job needs it, not just their bit of it.
Most of my key people have been with me for at least two years, some longer. That matters because it means we’ve already worked out how to have each other’s backs before your project ever starts.
You’re not getting a rotating cast of strangers.
You’re getting a crew that knows how the others work and is always looking for a better way to do things.
MEET THE TEAM.
A small team, by choice.

01 / THE OWNER

Geoff McLeod
Owner, Construction & Design Manager
22 YEARS IN CONSTRUCTION / 10 RUNNING SAVVY
Geoff started Savvy Renovations, and he’s usually the first voice you’ll hear when you call.
With 22 years in construction and 10 of those running Savvy, he holds a Certificate III and IV plus a Diploma in Building and Construction. But what he’s genuinely best at is picturing how a space will actually function once real life moves into it.
He’s also the one juggling the schedule when a trade falls through or the weather turns, and he’s hands-on enough to jump into most trades onsite himself if a job needs it.
Outside work, he’s a father of three, so he understands chaos and staying calm inside it. He’s involved in the kids’ football and basketball, and there’s a family card game night most weeks — usually competitive.
He’s cheeky, with a quick and slightly wicked sense of humor, and you can see the same thing coming through in all three kids.
His itchy brain means they don’t sit at home much. Weekends get filled with go-karting, rock climbing and whatever else counts as a boredom-buster, fitted around a chaotic sporting schedule.
He still loves gridiron, which he calls a game of physical chess, and he’s always chasing the next thing to learn.
02 / THE ORGANISER
Megan Thomas
Admin Manager
Megan is the reason everything behind the scenes at Savvy actually runs on time. She came to it through a love of numbers and a stubborn eye for detail, which took her into accounting: a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting, then audit, tax and superannuation funds before she moved into bookkeeping.
Audit is the useful part for you. It’s the discipline of checking that what’s been claimed actually matches what happened, and that’s the habit she brings to your paperwork. She’s been keeping our jobs organised for two years now, from quoting through to the documentation that keeps a project compliant and on track.
She’s involved the moment you first get in touch, even before you know her name, and you’ll deal with her directly once contracts and paperwork come your way. Clients tend to appreciate her most when things get busy, because she’s the one making sure nothing falls through the cracks while the rest of us are out on site.
She’s also Geoff’s sister, which means the business runs on more than a shared logo. They fought constantly growing up and work together surprisingly well now.
Megan’s a country girl at heart. She lives on a small pocket of land in the Yarra Valley with a husband, three kids and an ambitious number of animals: dogs, sheep, a guinea pig and a fish. Weekends go on the property, or fishing and camping, or up to the High Country.

03 / ON SITE
Luke Walsh
Leading Hand Carpenter
Luke’s been with Savvy for over two years, and once site works kick off, he’s usually the face you’ll see most.
He started carpentry at seventeen. Framing first, then lock-up and fix, then into extensions and renovations.
Once he was qualified, he spent five years on high-end builds, then came back to renovation work because it’s the work he enjoys most.
That matters more than it might sound. He’s here because he chose this kind of job, not because it’s what was going.
He’s the one running the project day to day onsite, coordinating trades and keeping quality tight.
We hear it constantly from clients that Luke is simply a nice bloke to have around your home — easy to talk to and genuinely respectful of your space while he works.
Away from work, he’s got a partner and three kids, and most weekends involve a skate park or a kick of the footy.
He plays golf, and he follows the Blues.
04 / VISUALISATION
Hannah Echiverre
Architectural Visualiser
Hannah works with us from the Philippines, where she’s a registered and licensed architect.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Ateneo de Davao University, and she’s been with Savvy for over two years.
Her work is visualisation. She takes a plan and shows you what the finished space will actually look and feel like to live in, before anyone picks up a tool.
Most people can’t read a flat drawing and shouldn’t have to.
She’s brought in whenever a project needs that, working through the detail on space, layout and function so the plan holds up in real life, not just on paper.
You won’t deal with Hannah directly. Everything she puts together comes back through Geoff before it reaches you, and he’s the one who checks it against what’s actually buildable in a 1920s Melbourne house. You get her thinking, and nothing reaches you unchecked. Away from work, she’s a gamer and a reader, gets out hiking when she can, and travels whenever there’s a chance.
Note: Hannah’s registration is Philippine, not Victorian. Her Savvy title is Architectural Visualiser.
